"Heron Sunset" watercolor painting

Rich layers of color create the magic in this piece. Tones of apricot, peach, and plums fill this waterscape, the light sparkling off of the splash of a rising Great Blue Heron. Some of the paints I used have heavy granulation and some iridescence which gives it a bit of sparkle in places: the dark purple mountains and the heron include pigment made from ground Amethyst stone.

Packaged with backerboard in clear plastic sleeve, both archival.
